Deric Kramer Thrives on Monday Racedays, Takes GetBioFuel.com Camaro to Finals at SpringNationals
BAYTOWN, Tex. (May 24, 2021) – Deric Kramer drove the GetBioFuel.com Chevrolet Camaro to the final round at the 34th annual NHRA SpringNationals after defeating Bruno Massel, Greg Anderson, and Kyle Koretsky.
Coming into raceday, Kramer qualified No. 7 after only two qualifying sessions on Saturday at Houston Raceway. In his matchup against Bruno Massel, Kramer and the Michael Hiner-led team clocked in at the top end with a 6.577-second pass at 209.72 mph and turned on the win light over Massel’s 6.605, 209.43.
Second round, Kramer staged up against engine builder and KB Racing-teammate Greg Anderson. At the hit, Kramer had a sizeable starting line advantage over Anderson and scored the holeshot victory with a 6.563, 209.56 to Anderson’s 6.560, 209.39.
“Greg [Anderson] has been on top of his game all year long and to beat him on a holeshot is pretty big,” Kramer said. “You gotta do your best as a driver and that win felt really good.”
In the semifinals, Kramer once again had a KB Racing-teammate in the other lane and this round it was fellow young gun Kyle Koretsky. It was a 6.576, 209.52 that scored Kramer another holeshot win as Koretsky crossed the finish line with an identical elapsed time of 6.576, 209.01.
For the final round, it was a battle of tire shake as both Kramer and Matt Hartford both instantly shook as they let off their clutch foot. Hartford quickly recovered and turned on the win light with a slowed 7.660, 145.11 as Kramer coasted to an 18.318, 49.33.
“Bummed we didn’t make it past the 60-foot in the finals but either did Matt [Hartford],” he said. “It was tough out there and I tried to recover but I just don’t have a lot of experience trying to shove it into another gear and trying to save it. Regardless, going rounds today at the SpringNationals was a morale booster for our team, for sure. Excited to head to Epping in a few weeks to keep this momentum going!”
