Deric Kramer Boosts American Ethanol Chevrolet Camaro to Second No. 1 Qualifier of 2020
ENNIS, Tex. (October 17, 2020) – Deric Kramer inked his second No. 1 qualifying position this afternoon at the 35th annual AAA Texas NHRA FallNationals in his American Ethanol Chevrolet Camaro.
In the first qualifying session, the Michael Hiner-tuned team catapulted all the way to the No. 1 spot with a 6.541-second pass at 210.37 mph. Being low of the session, Kramer would also collect three bonus points for that run.
With track temperatures rising between sessions, Kramer knew the possibility of improvement was slim for the conditions but still went up there and laid down a solid 6.576, 209.88 with his KB Racing powerplant under the hood.
“Once I saw a few pairs of Pro Stock go down in that second session, I knew there was a good chance we’d keep the No. 1 for raceday,” Kramer explained.
No. 1 qualifier Kramer will have lane choice over No. 16 qualifier Val Smeland in the first round tomorrow.
“First round is always just [Michael] Hiner and I racing against ourselves,” he added. “We try not to worry about who is the other lane when we race and just focus on our lane. We focus on doing the best we can to turn on the win light each round.”
Eliminations begin tomorrow at Texas Motorplex starting at 11:00 a.m. local time.
