Team Liberty Racing Qualifying Wrap-Up: Mile-High NHRA Nationals
MORRISON, Colo. (July 21, 2018) – Team Liberty Racing’s Cory Reed and Angelle Sampey took on the competition during qualifying at the 39th annual Mile-High Nationals and will be looking for their first win of the 2018 season tomorrow during eliminations at Bandimere Speedway.
CORY REED, FIREADE/TEAM LIBERTY RACING BUELL Q1: 7.539, 180.31 Q2: 7.417, 182.23 Q3: 7.258, 184.32 Q4: 7.230, 184.60 Qualified: No. 8 First Round Opponent: Steve Johnson QUOTABLE: “It was a big relief to find our problem with the bike on Friday night and rebound like we did today,” Reed said. “We were the fastest to the 60-foot mark in that last session and when the bike left, I knew it was on a good pass. That’ll be important to be fast to the 60 [foot] tomorrow and it’d mean a lot to do well at my home track on raceday tomorrow.”
ANGELLE SAMPEY, PSE/TEAM LIBERTY RACING BUELL Q1: 7.359, 183.19 Q2: 7.253, 185.46 Q3: 7.278, 174.93 Q4: 7.243, 185.21 Qualified: No. 10 First Round Opponent: LE Tonglet QUOTABLE: “I know we are in the bottom half technically, but I feel like we’ve got a bike under us for eliminations tomorrow,” Sampey said. “We improved every run during qualifying and that says a lot here in the conditions on the mountain. We’ve got a new clutch setup in it and I’m really focusing on my lights. It’s going to be a fun one tomorrow and I think my PSE/Team Liberty Racing Buell can pull it off tomorrow.”
