Team Liberty Racing Cory Reed and Angelle Sampey Reach Quarterfinal Finish at NHRA Gatornationals
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (March 18, 2018) – Cory Reed and Angelle Sampey rode their PSE/Team Liberty Racing Victory Magnums to the quarterfinal round of eliminations at the 49th annual NHRA Gatornationals this weekend at Gainesville Raceway.
CORY REED, PSE/TEAM LIBERTY RACING VICTORY MAGNUM Qualified: No. 13 First Round: REED (6.953, 191.95) defeated Hector Arana Jr. (6.945, 198,38) Second Round: Scotty Pollacheck (6.875, 196.44) defeated REED (6.925, 192.30) Quotable: “I knew I had the lead on him [Hector Arana Jr.] and it got up on the tire too much and then I got a little worried so I wanted to make sure I hit all my shifts,” Reed said about his first round of eliminations. “I kind of messed up all my shifts and I look over and I was still ahead of him and that made me feel real great about my potential on my PSE/Team Liberty Racing Victory Magnum.” “It took me all year last year to win one round so to come here and win a round in the first race is a great feeling. We didn’t go up to the starting line last year knowing we could win and I want that confidence back. This race’s performance was a good place to start.”
ANGELLE SAMPEY, PSE/TEAM LIBERTY RACING VICTORY MAGNUM Qualified: No. 8 First Round: SAMPEY (6.902, 194.94) defeated Ryan Oehler (6.953, 191.29) Second Round: Andrew Hines (6.857, 197.71) defeated SAMPEY (7.077, 165.46) Quotable: “Winning first round was very exciting and it got even more exciting when Cory won right after I did,” Sampey beamed. “I was extremely happy that we both got qualified and didn’t have to run each other first round. Ryan [Oehler, first round opponent] actually did a great job of racing in the other lane too.” “I couldn’t even grasp the first round win because we are already doing better than we did all last year. The potential I see in this team is so exciting. I can’t wait for them to get back to the shop and dyno and prepare for Charlotte.”
