Team Liberty Racing Qualifying Wrap-Up: NHRA Gatornationals
Team Liberty Racing Qualifying Wrap-Up: NHRA Gatornationals GAINESVILLE, Fla. (March 17, 2018) – The Team Liberty Racing duo of Cory Reed and Angelle Sampey came into the first race of the season with a mission to accomplish at the 49th annual NHRA Gatornationals. After a successful test session prior to the event at Orlando Speed World Dragway earlier this week, Reed and Sampey both qualified their Victory Magnums in the ultra-competitive Pro Stock Motorcycle field.
ANGELLE SAMPEY, PSE/TEAM LIBERTY RACING VICTORY MAGNUM Q1: 6.856, 196.07 Q2: 6.884,192.91 Q3: 6.900, 193.49 Q4: 6.874, 194.80 Qualified: No. 8 First Round Opponent: Ryan Oehler Quotable: “We hadn’t tested our bikes until Tuesday of this week,” Sampey admitted. “The amazing thing is that all of my passes this weekend would’ve got us in the show. Last year, we only had one run that would be really great to get us in the field so I feel really good knowing any of my passes could’ve got us qualified this weekend.” “I’m very proud of myself. We changed some things that made me ride differently, like I had to wait for the shift light longer, and after 20 years of programming, I finally got it right on that last run. We have so much more potential on top of what we’ve already shown this weekend. I’m really excited about tomorrow.”
CORY REED, PSE/TEAM LIBERTY RACING VICTORY MAGNUM Q1: 6.921, 189.39 Q2: 9.922, 84.91 Q3: 6.910, 191.08 Q4: 6.926, 191.67 Qualified: No. 13 First Round Opponent: Hector Arana Jr. Quotable: “I came here to win,” Reed said. “Last year, I didn’t expect to win but this year, I think we can win it. My expectations were to qualify better this weekend and there is something we haven’t quite figured out with my PSE/Team Liberty Racing Victory Magnum but it’ll come to us. Tomorrow is going to be a good show.”
