Chris McGaha Ready to Snag First Cowboy Hat in Victory Lane at Home Track Texas Motorplex
ODESSA, Tex. (October 11, 2017) – Candid Pro Stock fan-favorite and Texas-native Chris McGaha has won five times in the factory hot rod class but the one thing missing on his bucket list is a win at Texas Motorplex. “I was there as a kid the first day it opened,” McGaha recalled. “I sure would like to win the FallNationals at the Motorplex. It would probably be as big a deal as winning Indy for me. I got my first Pro Stock round win at the Texas Motorplex in 2011; this place has a real special place in our hearts.” Coming into his home race No. 9 in the Pro Stock point standings, the Harlow Sammons driver knows how important the fourth race of the six-race Countdown to the Championship is and how it can make or break championship dreams for anyone in Pro Stock. “This race does matter because when I won my first round there in 2011, I pretty much started the nail in the coffin for Greg Anderson not winning the championship,” he said. “He had lost in the first round the week before and then I beat him so that’s how important the AAA Texas NHRA FallNationals is on our schedule. It’s almost the cut off line for people in our class. The Motorplex is do or die for the championship for sure.” Qualifying begins on Friday, October 13th with two sessions at 2:15 and 5:15 p.m. Qualifying continues on Saturday, October 14th at 1:15 and 4:15 p.m. Eliminations begin at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 15th starting with Top Fuel.
