Team Liberty Race Preview: Mile High Nationals

CORDELE, Ga. (July 19, 2017) - The Western Swing is on the horizon and Team Liberty Racing has been spending the last several weeks working on expanding their arsenal to accommodate for the high demands during the west coast three-in-a-row. This weekend, the duo of Cory Reed and Angelle Sampey will take on Bandimere Speedway as they compete at the 38th annual Mopar Mile High Nationals.

“I consider Bandimere Speedway my home track,” Reed said. “I look forward to coming because my friends and family come out to watch us race and that makes this race special for me. I feel like our pits are more relaxed when my family is around. I love the track and coming back to my home state is always cool; I hope that translates to our on-track performance in our PSE/Team Liberty Racing Victory Magnums.”

Bandimere Speedway sits an outstanding 5,860 feet above sea level and Sampey admits that she must consciously make an effort to not over exert herself while at the Morrison, Colo.-based track.

“The oxygen is so much lower than what I’m used to,” Sampey admitted. “I get a little light-headed there and a lot of times I get headaches while I’m there so I try my best to stay hydrated and not get into too much of a rush before my runs. Before we run, I take a minute to relax and because then it’s such a mental game that if you’re not really focused on what you’re doing, you can mess it up. Qualifying is so important these days and it’s important to keep focus and I need as much mental clarity as I can get up there at that elevation.”

Qualifying for the 38th annual Mopar Mile High Nationals begins on Friday, July 21st with two sessions at 5:00 and 7:30 p.m. Qualifying continues Saturday, July 22nd with two more sessions at 4:00 and 6:30 p.m. Eliminations will be held on Sunday, July 23rd at 11:00 a.m.
