Shane Tucker Looking to Bounce Back from Disappointing Epping at Route 66 Nationals

July 6, 2017

STATESVILLE, N.C. (July 5, 2017) – After breaking two of his engines in Epping at the beginning of June, it has been a waiting game for Australia’s Shane Tucker – waiting on parts to rebuild his engines and return to the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series guns blazing. Equipped with two rebuilt motors, Tucker is ready for a full assault on the competition this weekend at the 20th annual Children of Fallen Patriots NHRA Route 66 Nationals presented by K&N.

“Unfortunately, when we hurt those two engines in Epping, the parts we needed to rebuild them take about three weeks to be ready,” Tucker said. “We planned on running the four in a row and when we hurt our motors, our Auzmet Architectural team had to sit out the rest of those events.”

Notably, Tucker went to the semifinals at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, Illinois back in 2014.

“I took out Chris McGaha, Erica Enders and then came up short against Vincent Nobile,” Tucker reminisced. “Our goal for Chicago is to make sure our motors are reliable and to get through qualifying successfully. If we can qualify in a decent spot, possibly in the top ten, I think we have a good shot at going rounds on Sunday.”

Qualifying at the 20th annual Children of Fallen Patriots NHRA Route 66 Nationals begins on Friday, July 7th with two sessions at 5:15 and 7:45 p.m. (ET).
