CORDELE, Ga. (June 21, 2017) – This weekend, Team Liberty Racing’s Cory Reed and Angelle Sampey will be setting their sights on victory lane at the 11th annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals at Summit Motorsports Park.
This track brings back special memories for 2016’s Rookie of the Year and team owner Cory Reed. Last year, Norwalk was the first time he qualified in the top half of the field and he also inked his first round win of his NHRA career at the event.
“No wonder I like Norwalk so much,” Reed laughed. “Coming back a year later, I think people don’t look at me as a new rider anymore and they definitely know every time me or my team comes to the line, we’re there to race. I’m excited to get back to Norwalk since this is where I finally started gaining momentum in my rookie season last year.”
Teammate Angelle Sampey is not a stranger to turning on win lights at the NHRA Nationals at the Norwalk, Ohio-based track. Sampey went to the final round in 2015 and marked a semifinal round appearance in 2016.
“Our progress in Englishtown really makes me excited about racing in Norwalk,” Sampey said. “Our team is starting to really gel and I’m looking forward to winning some more rounds this weekend; I have high hopes for our performance. Seth [Sampey’s husband] and Ava [Sampey’s daughter] will be joining me this weekend and I always am more relaxed in my racing when they’re here.”
Qualifying begins on Friday, June 23rd with two qualifying sessions at 5:15 and 7:45 p.m. Qualifying continues at 12:45 and 3:15 on Saturday, June 24th. Eliminations will begin on Sunday, June 25th at 11:00 a.m.
