GREENEVILLE, Tenn. (June 21, 2017) – After an early exit at the Thunder Valley Nationals, there is nothing more crucial to Marathon Petroleum/J&J Racing Pro Stock driver Allen Johnson than getting back on the racing surface. He will get his chance this weekend at the 11th annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals and he hopes to have his best performance of the season so far while in Marathon Petroleum’s backyard.
“I’m really eager to get to Norwalk because we have a great car but the driver let us down last weekend,” Johnson admitted. “I hope I can make up for it with all the Marathon Petroleum people here this weekend. I always look forward to this race because a lot of them are able to join us at Summit Motorsports Park.”
Wednesday, Johnson will display the Marathon Petroleum/J&J Racing Dodge Dart at the Marathon Petroleum campus located in Findlay, Ohio. All Marathon Petroleum employees are then invited to Employee Day at Summit Motorsports Park on Saturday where they can enjoy the sights and sounds of NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing and root on their favorite red, white and blue Pro Stock competitor.
“Norwalk is a real cool place to race,” Johnson said. “The Bader family really makes that place special and they take a lot of pride in their facility. We have a good time when we go to Norwalk.”
Qualifying begins on Friday, June 23rd with two qualifying sessions at 5:15 and 7:45 p.m. Qualifying continues at 12:45 and 3:15 on Saturday, June 24th. Eliminations will begin on Sunday, June 25th at 11:00 a.m.
