AMERICUS, Ga. (September 22, 2016) – PSE/Star Racing teammates Cory Reed and Angelle Sampey head to Gateway Motorsports Park this weekend for the Fifth annual AAA Insurance Midwest Nationals.
The teammates have polar opposite experiences at this track. Sampey has been to five finals at this event, most recently in 2007, and Reed has never stepped foot on the premises of Gateway Motorsports Park. Having the experience of Sampey will prove to be very helpful to the rookie rider Reed this weekend.
“This is the first track I’ve gone to this season that I haven’t been to before,” Reed said. “I have been to almost every race on the NHRA circuit with my parents when they race in Pro Mod and Top Alcohol Funny Car but this is the first track that I’m not familiar with.”
Out of the five finals, Sampey has won a total of three times.
“My favorite St. Louis memory is when I won there at 1:30 a.m. against Matt Hines many years ago,” Sampey said. “It kept raining and finally we got it done but it was really late when we finished it; I’ll never forget it.”
