Pro Stock Star Shane Tucker Back in the States for U.S. Nationals, Elite Performance Under the Hood
GOLD COAST, Queensland (August 30, 2016) - It’s been four months since Shane Tucker made a lap on a NHRA Mello Yello Series track and after getting his bearings with the new fuel-injection earlier this season, he’s eager to get back on the track with one noticeable change since the Four-Wide Nationals – Elite Performance powering his Auzmet Architectural Chevrolet Camaro. “We’re extremely excited to be back in the NHRA and racing at the U.S. National is huge,” Tucker said. “We’ve had a lot of fun racing with the guys at Elite Performance back in 2014 and we decided to run with them again this season.” To get reacquainted with his matte-gray Camaro, Tucker joined Elite at Memphis International Raceway over the weekend to do a little testing. “Our team had a lot of fun over the weekend testing the car and the car performed really well,” he added. Conditions were extremely warm and humid and obviously the naturally-aspirated cars don’t like a lot of water in the air so it made it pretty tough to run quickly. But, by the end of the weekend, it had a pretty good 60 foot and a decent mile per hour and if we can get it right at Indy, there’s no reason why we shouldn’t be a top five runner this weekend.” Tucker’s plan is to race five out of the remaining seven races in 2016. The current plan is to not attend St. Louis and Reading at the end of September. “We’ve only run once this season but we hope we can win some rounds and take away some points from some of the drivers in the countdown to help out our teammates [Elite drivers Jeg Coughlin and Erica Enders]. I think my teammates have a good chance of winning the Championship and hopefully I can lend a helping hand by taking away some points from other guys going for the Championship.” Qualifying at the 62nd annual Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals begins on Friday, September 2nd with one qualifying run at 7:15 p.m. Two qualifying sessions will follow on Saturday, September 3rd at 2:45 and 6:45 p.m. Sunday, September 4th will see the final two qualifying runs at 11:15 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Eliminations are scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 5th starting with Top Fuel.
