BRAINERD, Minn. (August 20, 2016) – Precision Service Equipment/Star Racing Buell rider Cory Reed has run consistently all weekend in Brainerd for the 35th annual Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals. Reed will compete for the Wally in the No. 7 spot and will race Michael Ray in the first round.
In Friday’s first session, Reed began PSE/Star Racing’s weekend with a 6.986-second pass at 190.62. Coming back for the second session of the day, Reed jumped all the way up to the top half of the field when he clocked in with a 6.925, 192.03 sitting him at the No. 7 spot
On Saturday, Reed began with another improved 6.896, 192.22 and retained his No. 7 position going into the final qualifying run before raceday. He closed out qualifying with a 6.884, 191.62; the 6.884 ties his career best elapsed time.
Reed stayed No. 7 and will race No. 10 Michael Ray. The pair have yet to race each other in competition.
“I feel like the bike is really working out,” he said. “It’s definitely back on track and my lights have been really good all weekend and Angelle’s bike is going really fast so I think the PSE/Star Racing team is gonna have a great raceday tomorrow.”
