Star Racing Race Preview: K&N Filters Route 66 NHRA Nationals

AMERICUS, Ga. (July 5, 2016) - In just five races, Angelle Sampey and Cory Reed have shown the NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle class that they are a duo to be reckoned with. With a No. 1 qualifier and a national event win under Sampey’s belt and Reed getting his groove and starting to go rounds, the Star Racing/ Precision Service Equipment Buell team is gaining steam heading into the sixth of 16 race that will take place at Route 66 Raceway this weekend. Angelle Sampey is coming off a semifinal appearance in Norwalk, Ohio two weeks ago and has made it to the semifinal round or better in the last four events she’s entered in. Sampey has been to the finals at the Route 66 Nationals four times with her most recent win in 2003. “I cannot wait to get to Chicago,” Sampey said. “I don’t think I’ve ever been as excited to go to a race like I am right now. It’s a combination of the fact that we’re doing well as a team, the momentum we’ve got going, and that people are questioning our abilities. That gets me really fired up to do even better than I’ve been doing. I want to get there and beat everybody.” Cory Reed has been making headway with his half of the Star Racing/PSE team as well. With his first round win coming two weeks ago, Reed has gotten a taste of success and is ready to keep making moves towards the winner circle. “I’m always excited to get back to the racetrack,” Reed said. “My next goal would be going to second round and getting the win this time. I feel like every race has been a step in the right direction so I think it’s rolling good. We’re going in the right direction and not backwards.” Sampey and Reed will qualify at the 19th annual K&N Filters Route 66 NHRA Nationals starting on Friday July 8 with two qualifying runs at 5:15 and 7:45 p.m. Two more qualifying sessions will be on Saturday July 9th at 3:15 and 6:00 p.m. Eliminations will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday July 10th.
