Chris McGaha Launching Full Force into Eastern Swing

CHRIS MCGAHA HARLOW SAMMONS CHEVROLET CAMARO EVENT PREVIEW: FOURTH ANNUAL NHRA NEW ENGLAND NATIONALS NEW ENGLAND DRAGWAY JUNE 3-5

Chris McGaha Launching Full Force into Eastern Swing

ODESSA, Tex. (June 1, 2016) – Harlow Sammons Pro Stock driver Chris McGaha embarks on a tenacious four races in a row starting this weekend at the Fourth annual NHRA New England Nationals. Nicknamed the “Eastern Swing”, racers travel to Epping, New Hampshire, followed by Englishtown, Bristol, and Norwalk. With a lot of potential qualifying and round win points available, McGaha hopes to make the most of each time down the track and skyrocket himself to the winner circle. Just one year ago, McGaha nabbed the No. 1 qualifying spot after he blasted past his competition with a 6.520-second pass at 212.66 mph. Now with the new fuel injection getting sorted out, McGaha feels the Eastern Swing will be a turning point for his driving and his team overall. “Going No. 1 last year was pretty cool,” said McGaha. “The Epping race always seems to be a turning point in the season for us. It’s not the halfway point but to me, it’s a huge turning point in the season. The Eastern Swing is a make or break situation because there are so many races happening in a row and how you run these next few races will dictate a lot of the rest of the season.” Running four races back-to-back isn’t for the faint of heart but the strenuous portion of the NHRA schedule does present its own advantages. “When we do the Eastern Swing, you get more comfortable because you’re doing it week in and week out,” he said. “By the time you get to the fourth race, it’s second nature. With this many races in a row, the driver better show up too.” McGaha adds that his Harlow Sammons Chevrolet Camaro team takes one round at a time but they do have goals they’re setting out to accomplish before the Eastern Swing is said and done. “The goal for the four in a row would probably be being the team to break up the stint right now because there is another team kind of running away with the points,” he added. “I think the Harlow Sammons team can make that happen in Epping." Qualifying for the Fourth annual NHRA New England Nationals begins on Friday, June 3rd with two qualifying sessions at 4:30 and 7:00 p.m. Two more qualifying sessions will be on Saturday, June 4th at 1:30 and 4:00 p.m. Eliminations will be on Sunday, June 5th starting at 11:00 am with Top Fuel.
