Rookie Cory Reed Continues to Forge Path to Success

ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. (June 12, 2016) – Cory Reed qualified for his second race of his career at the 47th annual NHRA Summernationals this weekend on his Star Racing/Precision Service Equipment Buell. Reed came into raceday in the No. 15 spot and had a first round matchup against Jerry Savoie. Reed gave Savoie his best shot when he clocked in with a 6.933-second pass at 191.76 mph – his fastest pass of the weekend. Although he ran his weekend’s best elapsed time, he lost his race at the starting line when he went .006-thousandths red. Quicker than it takes you to blink your eyes, Reed was ready to give Savoie a killer reaction time in hopes of getting the starting line advantage over Savoie to take the win. Savoie advanced with a 6.841, 196.82. “Going red in the first round kind of killed my mood today but with Angelle winning today, it made everyone definitely feel better,” Reed said. “I was pretty bummed for myself because of my red light but I think we’re headed in the right direction. I think there is a ball and it’s finally starting to roll. Our motor program is really coming along. We figured out its not the motors, it’s just little gremlins and we’ll take care of it.” CORY REED, PSE/STAR RACING BUELL Qualified: No. 15 ELIMINATIONS First Round: Jerry Savoie (6.841-second, 196.82 mph) def.
