Shane Tucker Hopes Last Minute Mishaps Translate to Positive First Outing at Four-Wide Nationals

STATESVILLE, N.C. (April 21, 2016) – Auzmet Architectural Pro Stock driver Shane Tucker will appear in his first NHRA national event this weekend at the Sixth annual NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at zMAX Dragway. Tucker has been preparing for his debut for months but experienced some unforeseen problems this week that he thought would cause him to withdraw from this weekend’s race. On Tuesday night, Tucker put his new fuel injected motor on the dyno and experienced trouble on a dyno pull that lead to the motor breaking. After making a few phone calls, Tucker and his Auzmet Architectural team were able to repair the motor and put it back on the dyno late last night. Tucker will enter this race with no prior test session with the new fuel injection but he remains confident and looks forward to being back behind the wheel of his matte gray Chevrolet Camaro. “This first race, I’m really not sure what to expect,” said Tucker. “I don’t have any real expectations; I’m just happy to be out there racing again. It’s all gonna be quite the learning curve and I guess I’d be a little naive to think we could come out and be competitive with the short amount of time that we’ve had to prepare.” Although the Australian driver has had limited time to get ready for his debut race, Tucker hopes this weekend will be an opportunity to get the team’s feet wet with the new fuel injection. “Come Indy, I want to be able to challenge to win the race,” added Tucker. “I don’t want to turn up if we aren’t competitive enough to win the race.” Tucker will begin qualifying on Friday, April 22nd with two sessions at 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. (ET).
