PSE/Star Racing Auto Club NHRA Finals Race Report

POMONA, Calif. (November 13, 2016) – It was an overall great raceday for the PSE/Star Racing team of Cory Reed and Angelle Sampey. Sampey went all the way to the finals but unfortunately, Reed came up short in the first round. In the first round, No. 13 Reed faced up against No. 4 Andrew Hines. Reed clocked in with an uncharacteristic 7.152-second pass at 188.10 mph; Hines’ 6.880, 194.52 advanced to the next round. No. 5 Sampey had her first round matchup against Scotty Pollacheck. POMONA, Calif. (November 12, 2016) – Marathon Petroleum/J&J Racing Dodge Dart Pro Stock driver Allen Johnson qualified No. 10 after four rounds of qualifying at the 52nd annual Auto Club NHRA Finals. On Friday, Johnson opened up qualifying in his Marathon Petroleum/J&J Racing Dodge Dart with a 6.612-second pass at 209.83 mph. (November 12, 2016) – A&J Furniture Manufacturing Pro Stock driver Aaron Strong had ups and downs during qualifying at the 52nd annual Auto Club NHRA Finals but by the end of the fourth qualifying session, he was able to get his Chevrolet Camaro into the field in the No. 14 spot. Strong has been fighting unknown gremlins the last three events but he flew out early this weekend in hopes of finding out what was wrong with the car. On Friday, Strong had big tire shake and he coasted to the finish line with a 13.641-second pass at 64.67 mph. LAS VEGAS (October 31st, 2016) – Shane Tucker staged his Auzmet Architectural Chevrolet Camaro during eliminations for the last time in 2016 this past weekend at the 16th annual NHRA Las Vegas Nationals. Although he had an early exit in the first round, Tucker is full steam ahead towards the off season and preparing for 2017. Tucker qualified No. 15 and raced Drew Skillman in the first round. Tucker had a .016-thousandths light over Skillman’s .041 reaction time and the Australian-native went into that round knowing he needed that advantage over Skillman.
